Working together as Partners in Culture, William Cepeda and the Black PR Collab were awarded a Mid Atlantic Folk and Traditional Arts Community Projects Grant from Mid Atlantic Arts. From this grant, TRADITIONS was born. TRADITIONS is a free community program that will be held on Saturday, November 14, 2026 at Centro Cultural Cacica Yuisa in Loíza, Puerto Rico. TRADITIONS is made possible in part through the Mid Atlantic Folk and Traditional Arts – Community Projects program of Mid Atlantic Arts with support from the National Endowment for the Arts.
Featured culture bearers at TRADITIONS include William Cepeda (four-time GRAMMY nominee and 2026 Jazz Legacies Fellow (Mellon Foundation and the Jazz Foundation of America), Sra. Maribella Burgos, director of Junte Loiceño (invited), Adriano Pancaldi, Italian–Puerto Rican saxophonist and composer, and famed artist Samuel Lind; who has created a body of work that honors the people, rhythms, rituals, landscapes, and symbols that define his hometown.
TRADITIONS is a community-rooted, intergenerational gathering that will be held at Centro Cultural Cacica Yuisa in Loíza, Puerto Rico. Bomba, plena, Afro-Rican Jazz, and the Taíno conch-shell tradition will converge as elder culture bearers and youth practitioners perform side by side, safeguarding Afro–Puerto Rican folkloric arts for the next generation.
